Willa Mae had gone for the day when Florina stepped onto the verandah and discovered the box wrapped in the paper of a grocery bag, bearing her name.

Seeing no one, and since the box bore no postage, she looked to Agnes and Macon’s home. Florina assumed that Agnes had left it.

Back inside and sitting at the dining room table, Florina grew amazed. Hot tears formed behind her eyes, rolled on to her cheeks, warmed to a slow burn, as she read the words.
